Brought the newer version which was cheaper, but still not as good as this model from 2018.... Unless you go up to the £300 + mark...this is the best one...even the cheaper Panasonic wasn't as good.

I got this Blu-Ray Player as i was after one that played Ultra 4K HDR DVDS and Blu-Ray Discs and after buying this one and pairing it with my new hisense 4k Tv i was very happy that i can play my films i have.

The UPB-X700 player has a sleek design which will match most audio visual equipment. Standard Blu-Ray discs give excellent colour, audio and picture detail. DVD's also display well and the ability to upscale is definitely a bonus feature. All in all - a perfect addition to my Sony Bravia TV.

Arrived and couldn't play any disks, called Sony who referred me to a local 3rd party repair centre (who don't repair Blu-ray players), who referred me to Sony who referred me to the 3rd party repair centre (because their system says they'll fix it)

This is a stylish player and smaller than you think. Very easy to set up and the picture and sound are first class. Highly recommended.

Easy to set up and use, good quality picture and sound and a smaller footprint to fit wherever you want it to go. Only minus point is that it runs via an adaptor box (supplied), it does not plug straight into the wall so after saving space on the unit itself, you then need to find extra room to accommodate the power supply unit.

I bought this last month and plugged it into my Sony Bravia TV and was easy to get started with. I set this player up to output in the format of whatever was playing and the tv takes care of any upscaling. I also had to make sure the tv was set up for Blu-ray Discs which meant turning off most of the settings on the tv! The player starts up quickly and is not laggy when telling it what to do. It’s quiet as well and doesn’t have a glowy display (just 1 green led) so not intrusive. I think it can be used as a browser and apps can be played on this like a massive fire stick so would work well with a non-smart tv.

I've been putting off buying a 4K ultra player for a while as films are expensive. My old pioneer blu-ray player was getting louder and slower, so I decided to replace it with this one. The blu-ray picture is improved on this one, but 4K Ultra discs look and sound absolutely amazing! I'm just buying them 2nd hand. Highly recommended

I prefer this new option. It is more responsive and loads faster. It also has an on-screen display showing the remaining movie time and whether the sound is in DTS or Dolby.

Pretty basic bit of kit. Works straight out of the box. Easy to link to Wi-Fi. Shame there aren't more installed apps. It seems impossible to install extras.

Plays Blu Rays fine but half of the 4K discs I have tried freeze during playback between 30-60 minutes in. Have cleaned discs, made sure software is updated, reset the player and unplugged and restarted many times to no effect. I can see that this is a common problem from reviews.

I bought this in August and generally very happy. One thing which would improve it is if it could connect to the net to retrieve track listings when playing an audio CD. Apart from this, it's very good.

I've upgraded to a Sony 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player form my previous Samsung Blu-ray/DVD Player and wow what a difference... amazing colour and much better sound. Easy to install with options.

I spoke to support to verify this player will work on my new 65" OLED 4K TV. The advisor on the chat said yes, I went back on the chat at Sony support and asked the same question, the other operator said yes it will play 3D films on your new TV. It arrived, I set it up followed all instructions and quess qhat NO it will not play Blu ray 3D films. I arranged a return. I spoke to Richer sounds where I bought my new TV from a few days ago, they said there is no way it will play 3D blu ray films. I should of asked Richer sounds first before I wasted my time and money on this useless product.

I have owned one of these for over 5 years already, so having searched the market for a cheap but decent Blu-ray player to replace a 22-year-old home cinema system and finding not much worth having for a reasonable price, I chose a second UBP-X700 from Sony. Although the apps available on the player are limited, it does provide Youtube which the kids like and to be honest, smart TVs and other devices provide these. Perfomance-wise, the picture is fantastic and it handles all formats and codecs you would want. Obviously 4K and HD Blu-ray discs have a pin-sharp picture, but this player also does a very good job of upscaling SD content from standard DVDs. It's very easy to use and the menus are intuitive with reasonable descriptions for the functions in each sub-menu. Definitely a great Blu-ray player for anyone wanting a feature-rich device with good performance at a sensible price.

I have owned the player for around 3 months. No issues playing CDs, DVDs or Blu-Rays. As others have reported the player has issues playing 4K UHD discs reliably. A number of discs have either skipped or frozen when watching normally around the 1 hour 50 minute mark. When frozen the player has to be powered off and back on. I suspect the player is having issues changing disc layers.

I bought this to complement my Sony home cinema kit. Bravia TV, soundbar, sub woofer etc. The UHD 4K discs kept freezing and I couldn’t understand why. An internet search revealed that the Blu-ray player was sending the TV a 4K signal and the TV was then trying to upscale that to 4K too! A YouTube video later and I changed couple of settings on the Blu-ray player ; I have had trouble free viewing ever since. Well, I had a new 4K Blu-ray Disc that had a fingerprint on it and the disc froze. A soft wipe with a microfibre cloth to remove the fingerprint and everything played perfectly. Very happy with the player now the settings have been changed but you may need to do the same to stop it freezing when playing 4K Blu-ray Discs. I have docked the player one star from the score because it was not plug and play when connected to my other Sony kit.

I purchased this player predominantly for SACD playback & it reproduces that sound perfectly. Blu-ray & DVD playback is fine too. Unfortunately the on board apps are limited in selection but, despite this, the player is great value for money.

Bought this to accompany a new Bravia OLED TV - I’m genuinely astonished by the detail & quality of image it manages to squeeze out of ‘ordinary’ (i.e. not UHD, not Blu-Ray) DVDs. Really wasn’t expecting the upscaling to be so clever or subtle.

This has been a nightmare three times have list sound when playing blue ray videos and had to send away to get repaired which has taken 5 weeks by the time it returns ! Not happy at all for such an expensive item

Having bought this I discovered a problem in that paid for content would not play. Contatcted Sony support and their only input was to recommend that I contact Google. The paid for content is fine on other devices only fails on Sony device!

A Alta Resolução do Áudio é excelente. A leitura de sacd é dvdaudio ambos tb e hi-resolution assim com a facilidade da descodificação das novas ferramentas como em particular o Dolby Atmos nos novos Blu-ray fazem deste aparelho um dos melhores no mercado por um preço muito acessível. A qualidade está ao nível do melhor e mais sofisticado no mercado.

This is a great player! The upscaling looks amazing on my Bravia OLED TV. The only issue is that this device doesn't like HDMI splitters. If I want to switch to it from a splitter, I have to switch the splitter; then, switch the TV to another HDMI port before switching back to the player's port.
