I bought this a month ago to complement the home theatre system i also bought along with Sonys flagship TV Bravia A-95L.soo glad i did the sound deep base is so lifelike it literally places you there weather gaming or watching a movie or just listening to the Dolby Atmos this combination for me - near perfect, i haven't experienced anything else out there that can compete !! oh and with Sonys cashback offer makes this even better, thanks Sony !!

I’m running a Theatre Bar 9, RS5s and the SW5 sub is the perfect addition. Easy to setup, subtle smooth bass, not overwhelming and plenty of settings/adjustment via the Bravia app.

So far so good Bought this with a bundle and got it at circa £375 At that price point the sub is good and no faults at all so far At full price these can’t compete with specialist subs such as SVS but otherwise good - this model is a bit old so maybe Sony need to develop a successor sub

The subwoofer pairs perfectly with the Sony HT-A9M2 home theater system, enriching the overall soundstage and significantly enhancing bass performance.

Placement with most subs is key. This however is powerful enough to be placed almost anywhere.

Bought this recently, the quality is amazing! it's like having a cinema in my bedroom.

The deep sound from this sub can be quite penetrating in a great way, can be adjusted to suit your needs.

No idea. Tv was not installed yet so I did not use the subwoofer either. It's nearly 2 weeks after delivery and still waiting for order works to contact.

Had to take first one back as was not working but John Lewis sorted every thing out for me excellent service

Truly awful service from Sony. Never ever again will I buy Sony. I deeply regret any dealing with Sony. Nothing but trouble, time and money wasted as a direct result of Sony’s false advertising, incredibly poor technical help and utter incompetence.

The Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer delivers impressive low-end performance and definitely enhances the overall sound experience when paired with compatible Sony soundbars. The bass is deep, rich, and powerful — when it’s working perfectly. However, I’ve noticed that it rattles at times, especially during heavy bass scenes or music with deep lows. This is disappointing, particularly for a £700 subwoofer, where you’d expect premium build quality and consistent performance. Visually and in terms of material feel, it also seems a bit inferior to the Bose Bass Module, which feels sturdier and more refined. Overall, it’s a good subwoofer with solid sound, but the occasional rattling and build quality concerns make it hard to justify the premium price tag.

I have had this product for 10 days. It was bought along with the rear speakers SARS5 to connect to my HT-A7000 Sound bar which I have had for a while now. So far I am pleased with all products giving a very realistic theatre sound. I found the additional speakers very easy to connect to the soundbar. I bought direct from Sony online and was very pleased with the speed of service. From my experience to date I would recommend the sound system. Although not cheap it is worth paying for the quality if you can afford it.

Wasn't sure if I was going to go for the smaller subwoofer due to the size of the room, but it handles very well when put through its paces and compliments the soundbar and rears perfectly even at lower levels

I bought this SA-SW5 together with the Bravia Theatre Quad. Initial setup was good and sound excellent. But after three days, the SA-SW5 suddenly de-link from the Bravia Theatre Quad. Having great difficulties to re-connect the SA-SW5.

Sits near the sofa’s easy listening with the subwoofer at the front great bit of kit. The sound quality is better then I imagined when turned up a notch when the wife is not in.

I bought the Bar 9 in the hope that I wouldn't need a separate sub woofer and for a few weeks it was 'fine'. After getting a good deal on the SW5, I can say that the addition definitely delivers that extra punch. Fairly straightforward setup too.

I teamed-up this sub-woofer with my Theatre 9 soundbar and, as good as the soundbar is, adding the SA-SW5 really does make a noticeable difference. The depth of the bass is controllable via the remote control or via the Bravia Connect app. It's easy to set up and to pair with the soundbar and you can have it working within minutes of plugging it in.

Not overly impressed . Doesn’t overwhelm with sound ? Either to loud or too soft ?

I upgraded from the SW3 and I really am glad I did. The difference in clarity is a big upgrade. The SW3 is great, and I moved it to a bedroom where it works perfectly for me, but this SW5 is really completing the cinematic experience for me in the living room.

It's a great sub but has limitations, only works with Sony wireless soundbars and can't add more than one sub 😕 Also, it needs a wired line in for better connectivity outside the Sony family. For my sins I have two of these Sony subs.

I bought this around a month ago to pair with my Sony Theatre Quad Speakers. So much better than my previous Sonos soundbar and sub setup, really pleased with my purchase

I highly recommend it. Everything is as expected. I suggest to set it up with sound bar and up firing speakers. Step up and installation is soo easy

The SW5 is great! But ......... Chromecast! Chromecast! We want Chromecast for the Sony Bravia Theatre QUAD ! Why give me Spotify Connect which can only carry to Spotify! Give me Chromecast for the Quad instead not only I can cast this Spotify but also others music streaming services like Tidal.

I was already astounded by my Sony Quad Theatre system which has made an incredible difference to my A95L Sony Bravia XR OLED TV as it adds a whole new experience to this incredible TV. As my hearing is not good even with hearing aids, I was keen to get the most out of my new set up, so I decided I must get the sub woofer unit as well, just to see if I was missing anything more! I was delighted once I got everything up and running. Clearly buying this wonderful TV was just the beginning, now I literally have “All the bells and whistles!” What more could I say, apart from Thanks Sony. Ian H from Norwich Norfolk UK.

I value quality of sound and music, this to pair with my bravia quad theatre and I it sounds great.

I have now had the Sony sub woofer forctwo months and it has really enhanced the sound quality of the TV with sound bar as well. It makes a real difference to viewing TV and music channels too.

Ordered togeather to add to our existing round bar along with the RS5 rear speaks and it’s really made a difference to the sound experience

I bought this few weeks ago I thought there was not going to be a proper base because my tv is Sony that has a terrible noise but now with the soundbar 9 and this subwoofer it’s the best as its quality and it is very good for like an home cinema.

I treated myself for Christmas & so glad I did even the Mrs isn't complaining although she's unaware of the cost😂😂😂😂😂

I just upgraded my surround system from a 2016 Sony receiver 7.1 chan. I felt that it was getting a bit old and took up a lot of space etc. And while the sound was ok, my speakers weren't the best. I got the Sony HT-A8000 Atmos soundbar as well as the Sony SA-RS5 rear speakers. I wanted everything to be from Sony rather than mix and match. I am very happy with the ease of setup. Basically you do it all via the Bravia app and it walks you thru the steps even checking to make sure you have everything setup correctly. This speaker was setup in 5 seconds. Of course after unpacking the heavy box and plugging it in. The sound, the power, the clarity.....impressive. I hear sounds on games, tv shows and movies that i've seen and played many times that i've never heard before after installing this speaker. The bass is so deep and crisp it really feels like you are in a movie theater. Especially that i have it paired with the soundbar and rear speakers. I know it's pricy but just go for it, you'll be very happy you did. It's made very well and it will last. I've had other systems over the years including soundbars and separate subwoofers but this one I can actually say is top of the line. Just fantastic. On a side note, the app to configure everything also lets you set volume and a few other things for the speakers so once the initial automated setup is complete, you can still change things to your preferences. So if you don't want heavy bass you can lower the volume.

Design is nice and it has some heft to it. My issue is the wireless connection. I have not been able to achieve a stable connection despite multiple calls to Sony. When it works it is great and I love it. However, the connection is seldom stable. Time for another call to Sony. :-(

This is probably the best subwoofer I've ever had amazing sound with the wireless quads surround system

Would love to rate this product but I have been waiting over 3 weeks noe for the rubbish logistics that Sony have to deliver my order so I can try it. If I could rate Sony and this web site no stars I would. be warned there communication is nil - you can’t even put a complaint of service in as they don’t have the facility available…. ethers over conference or is it just denial. So do like I wished I had done and gone somewhere else. Quick to take your money but extremely slow to deliver. Hope fully they might respond to this!

I bought this along with a pair of SA-RS5 to go with a HT-A9000 soundbar. Everything functions together really well and the sound is amazing. I have a Samsung 65" TV with EARC, a Sony 4K bluray player and a Panasonic HDR. Unfortunately they do not play particularly well together. The only problem is lipsync. It is always off no matter what source I use. And the annoyance is the lips move AHEAD of the visuals not behind so I can't tweak the delay. Also, on Atmos content sometimes the sound cuts completely and I have to adjust the EARC setting on my TV to downgrade the sound. So, beware SAMSUN TV owners.

Surprised by the size of the sub but it does a very good job. I would like the app to allow us to go more in depth to play around with more settings to tailor it better but that’s just a personal preference. Overall very happy

I bought this fabulous subwoofer last month but before I bought it I was confused on which one to buy between SA-SW3 & SA-SW5 so I watched some reviews on YouTube and read many reviews before making up my mind to buy SA-SW5. I never regret buying this fabulous subwoofer last. The good thing I love so much about this wonderful subwoofer is that you can’t pinpoint where the sound is coming from. All my gadgets are Sony.

I have had this for about 2 months and I am finding that it keeps losing connection with the soundbar. I can hear the bass disappear intermittently when using to watch tv, movies or listen to music. Worked through some general trouble shooting with Sony and now will need to contact them again (but they only provide call support mon-fri)

this woofer has more than enough punch for a medium sized room.. good quality low frequency and not too bassy when paired with the Bar9.

Added this to the front and rear speaker setup I already had to try and give the rears some oomph but slightly disappointed that it doesn’t seem to add much that way. Plenty of bass everywhere else though!

this sounds superb - it goes well with my HT-A5000 soundbar I bought it along with SU-WB1 (£30 cashback) and SU-WL900 (£50 cashback) I was supposed to be able to claim £150 cashback. However, they processed the £80 cashback and then stated I can only claim for two items in this promotion. I feel completely conned as they could have refused the lower value of £30 and honoured the £150. I might take my money elsewhere next time

Got it free with the purchase of Quad Home Theater. It works wonders with this subwoofer. Now I enjoy listening both music and movies.

When paired with HT9A quad, music and movies just reached another level. All these with ease of installation and placement of the quad speakers.

The sound is great as though you are in a movie theater watching a miovie

The SA-SW5 is a superb subwoofer. Amazing bass performance. Paired it with the Bravia Theater Quad provides a very immersive home movie experience. However, the exterior design looks a bit dated, hopefully Sony will come up with an updated version that can compete with Sono in terms of the exterior design.

Good sound box but the size can be smaller n less heavy

I bought this month ago and paired with Sony Quad. Even if the bass level set very high, this subwoofer won’t be live unless main audio set extremely high. While the bass good at high volume, no one can hear at high level volume for long at night. If you set volume low , no bass at all.While it could be software or app issue but I just don’t hear any bass from this at low levels.

Very good bass and it is adjustable. Therefore it is good for movie as well as audiophile listening

It's certainly a pricy investment however if you already got into Sony's wireless systems, you probably would only consider Sony's wireless subs. The SW5 certainly packs enough low end. The only thing I wish for is the ability to fine tune the sub. Add a crossover feature to it and I think it will add justification to the price tag. No drop outs, and seamlessly works with my Sony Quad system. Placed it behind my Tv to hide it. Overall really pleased, just docked one star from the overall rating for the lack of crossover feature.

When buying couldn’t decide weather to purchase the cheaper SW3. But what a mistake that would have been. As with the sound bar and rear speakers there was nothing to do for set up except position it and plug it in. Have had sub woofers before but this takes it to another level the sound is so good, very pleased with this product.

Bought two of these by accident! When I tried to return one of them they wouldn't refund all my money, $200.00 less!! Fk off Sony, no more Sony products me.

Must buy SA-SW5 together with HT-A9. They are amazing.

I purchased the sub just under a month ago. The sub definitely has a premium feel, which you come to expect from Sony. Simple power and pair buttons on the rear. Establishing wireless connection to Sony sounbar is effortless. Performed calibration and all done. Me personally found the calibrated sound volume setting at 6, was way too low. Tried different volume settings. Volume 10 was good, but since I love bass, MAX was the best for me. Very good presence of sound with very good deep sound; deep sound that you can feel! Like any speaker, it's gets better over time and I am noticing improvements all the time. Fully recommended.

I bought this back in the end of July beginning of August. So far when it works I love it. I would say that it works around 90-95% of the time without incidents. I do not have the volume at max I usually keep it around 30%-50% of its max. It has Bluetooth connection issues specially if it is windy outside. I have noticed that when it is windy I tend to lose Bluetooth connection at random times while using this device. No the device is not outside and no the windows are not open. There is no draft in the home. Other than that, This this is great.

Great sounding subwoofer that compliments the AT-7000 soundbar

This unit is a great companion to the HT-A9 system. System really needs the bigger of the 2sub's that are offered.
